Rosemary is known for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which may help to nourish the scalp and stimulate hair growth. This simple rosemary hair rinse is a gentle cleanser that may increase the sheen of hair, some also say aid in preventing early signs of graying, and relieve scalp conditions such as dandruff and a dry flaky scalp.
Back in the day, the rosemary herb was primarily used to alleviate muscle pain, enhance memory, as well as boost the immune and circulatory system. An enriched source of iron, calcium, vitamins A, C, and B-6, rosemary has been used for many medical purposes for decades, even centuries.
In this post, I will focus on the benefits when used in hair. Below are four benefits when used consistently for strong healthy hair and scalp:
- Prevention of hair loss: Improvement in blood circulation
- Promotion of hair growth: Ability to keep nerves healthy
- Aid in preventing early signs of graying. Hair darkening effect (which when used regularly) can keep the white strands on the sidelines.
- Combat dandruff, dry flaky scalp: Anti-inflammatory and bacterial properties
Instructions:
Incorporate this in your wash day (along with two options to try below):
- 4 cups of water
- 2 springs of (dried) rosemary
- Boil water and rosemary for 25 mins on medium heat
- Once water has boiled, turn off heat and let it cool down for 15 minutes
