Are you participating in a “dry” January? If so, this easy blood orange mocktail is the perfect beverage to add in your recipe arsenal for yourself, the kiddos, or your next gathering!
As we know, the winter months can bring on runny noses, the cold, and/or flu. As a way to help boost the immune system, vitamin C is an excellent source to combat these symptoms. Cue in the blood oranges! Rich in anti-oxidants and highly nutritious this fruit contains vitamin A, potassium, dietary fiber, and other minerals which offer unique health benefits.
Soooo why not make a drink out of it?! Get this…this mocktail calls for only FOUR ingredients! Serve it right away at your next cocktail party or for your family alongside breakfast – such a win win. Can we skip to the good part? Yasss! Let’s get into how easy this is made.
How To:
Like I mentioned, this recipe calls for only four ingredients. Blood oranges, honey, vanilla, and sparking water. Adding ice and rosemary (for garnish) are optional.
I used my hands to squeeze the liquid out, but if you have a juicer or citrus reamer, go for it! Once you have the amount of juice desired, add in honey and vanilla and shake. (PRO TIP: Make sure to add the honey to room temperature liquid. This ensures the honey dissolves and distributes evenly.) Pour the liquid into a glass and add a splash of sparkling water (lime, lemon, or plain will do). From there, enjoy! This winter spritzer will be a requested favorite in no time!
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. blood orange juice (freshly squeezed – preferred)
- 1 Tablespoon honey
- 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 oz. (lime, lemon, or plain) sparkling water
- OPTIONAL: Rosemary for garnish
