When you have done multiple charcuterie boards for multiple events during multiple times of the year, sometimes things can become redundant. Last year, I wanted to kick it up a notch and display a board that my guests haven’t seen me do before. QUEUE IN THE BIRTHDAY CHARCUTERIE BOARD! This was such a hit and so easy to do. Read on to witness the magic and hopefully this inspires your next event!
Ok, so boom – Im not going to hold you because I know you need all the details! It was such an easy, cheap, and customizable way to spruce up my serving table during my husband’s birthday gathering.
So first, I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased the Paper Mache Number 1 – 16″. They are pretty sturdy, thick, and flat enough to stand on its own making it great for decorating your event. I did not decorate mine at the time, but its durable enough to add paint, glitter, decorative papers, magazine cutouts, three dimensional embellishments, and so much more!
From there, I snagged a sharp razor blade and cut around the circumference of the number. Because the paper mache is pretty tough, it will take a bit of “elbow grease” to cut around. I added wax paper on the bottom so none of the fruit juices soaked through and began filling it with all of our sweet and savory goodies. I even added some small greenery from a bouquet of flowers to give it an extra kick. For those that missed the post, check it out below!
