Honestly there is nothing better than serving tacos on a Tuesday because uhhhhh…Taco Tuuuuesday! This taco tradition is easy, customizable for everyone in my family, and fun to prepare. Give me a 30 minute meal from start to finish that requires only a few on-hand ingredients any day!
One of our family favorites which has become a staple in our home is a 6 layer taco dip! Its been great for family gatherings, birthday parties, and even an after-school snack. I generally serve this dish cold or at room temperature and can make it ahead of time if I’m short on preparation. It should hold in the refrigerator for two to three days, but not longer than that. And if you are a guacamole fan like myself, you can easily make it separately and add a dollop on top to your liking.
Here’s what you will need:
1. Protein is optional (seasoned beef, chicken, turkey, or fish)
2. 1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese (softened at room temperature)
3. 1 (16 ounce) jar of salsa (hot or mild)
4. 1 large onions (red or yellow)
5. 1 bag of (shredded) lettuce
6. 1 large tomato (chopped)
7. 2 cups of (shredded) cheddar cheese
1 bag of Tortilla chips or Nacho cheese Doritos (crunch factor!)
Directions:
- Spread cream cheese evenly on the bottom of your serving dish
- (If you would like to include a protein, layer that evenly over the cream cheese)
- Spoon salsa over the top of the cream cheese (and meat of your choice) evenly ensuring all edges are covered
- Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and lettuce
- Top with scattering shredded cheese all over
- Finish by sticking in tortilla chips (or Doritos) around the edge of serving dish
- ENJOY!
