Benefits of a Tinted Moisturizer

Have you ever been in a space where you wanted to wear makeup, but didn’t want the heaviness of a full face?  I have and found an undying love and benefit for tinted moisturizers in my daily routine. If you are new to using makeup or haven’t heard of what a tinted moisturizer may be, Im here to give you the tea!

A tinted moisturizer is just as its name describes – a moisturizer with a tint to it. It will give you a slight polished look which will hydrate the skin and even out your complexion.   Below are top five benefits of using tinted moisturizers if you are on the fence with purchasing or new to what they are.

Top Five Benefits:

  1. TimeSaver – I mean who doesn’t want to save time? No need to wait for your moisturizer to dry then put on your foundation.  This is a two for one.  Apply it in one step and go!
  2. Sun Protection – This is a one, two, three punch.  Moisturizer, foundation, and sun protection all in one!  It’s also great for any type of skin: oily, normal or combination.
  3. Moisture Protection – In my opinion, this is the best benefit of all!  A tinted moisturizer is truly a moisturizer and will keep your skin hydrated and allow it to breathe.
  4. Natural Look – Sometimes you just don’t want the heaviness of foundation.  Some call it the “caked on look”.  Using a tinted moisturizer gives you that polish, natural.
  5. Easy Coverage – Easy to glide on with awesome coverage that is light and airy.  If you want a put together look that’s not too heavy and can even out your complexion, a tinted moisturizer is the way to go.

My Favorites:

Now let’s get into my favorites.  There are so many options out there to determine what may be good for you depending on your particular occasion or situation.  Here are my top three products Ive used many times before and have great success with:

Laura Mercier: Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector – Color: Walnut

Laura Mercier – Walnut

The Lip Bar: Just A Tint 3-in-1 Tinted Skin Conditioner – Color: Mahogany Mami

The LipBar – Mahogany Mami

Milani Cosmetics: Glow Hydrating Skin Tint – Color: Deep

Milani Cosmetics – Deep

Even though there are benefits, ya girl has to put you on to a few disadvantages as well.  Here’s my round up:

  1. Less SPF – Suggest you continue to use your favorite sunscreen of your choice in addition to the tinted moisturizer to ensure your skin stays protected from those harsh sun rays.
  2. Expensive – Some can be a bit pricy, but I’ve linked a couple favorites above which can be found at your local Target or Walmart.
  3. “No All Day Stay” – If you are looking for that all day stay, this is not it, Fren.  Being the moisturizer is thin and will absorb over a period of time, coverage will not stay like a foundation would.  Weigh your options and occasion to determine if you need to invest in foundation.

So, will you try a tinted moisturizer? If you already have this in your daily routine, whats your favorite?

Let me know!

Thanks so much Tahirah for sharing all the tea on tinted moisturizers. Oh definitely looking forward to check out a few of these out as an option when I want to wear make up but not full coverage. I truly appreciate the fact that you broke them down as it related to the SPF, the cost and their staying power

There are days I don’t feel like getting out the car.
Some where I’d rather stay home in my oversized tee.

Here’s the thing…
You don’t have to FEEL motivated to keep showing up.

Workouts, career, family, goals, or just making it to Monday from a long weekend? Consistently will beat motivation every single time.

Your reminders for the week:
✨Don’t wait until you feel ready.
✨There is no perfect time.
✨Just do it.

What’s one thing you’re showing up for this week, even if you don’t feel like it? Me first. 👇🏾

It is always balanced? Absolutely TF not.

Some days I’m the productive queen. Other days, I’m celebrating no one missed practice and everyone ate that day. I learned to stop chasing perfection and start appreciating consistency. Even if it looks different from week to week.

Consider this your reminder you are doing better than you think, boo.

Now your turn. What’s one thing you are balancing RIGHT now? Tell me👇🏾Let’s remind each other we’re not doing this alone🤎

The drinks? 🍸 They came to WORK. No complaints there.

The food? Delicious... but let’s just say this isn’t the place you go if you’re trying to unbutton your jeans afterward. 😂 The plates are on the smaller side, which honestly worked fine for our group since we were there more for the vibes than a full on food coma.

Now... can we talk about the smoke? 😩

I don’t know if the kitchen ventilation was taking the night off, but the dining room was giving “BBQ in your living room.” It definitely took away from the ambiance.

That said, I’d still recommend it for a cute date night, girls’ night, or a small celebration where you’re planning to sip, chat, and enjoy the atmosphere (hopefully with less smoke than we had!).

Would I go back? Yes... but I’m checking the ventilation situation first. 😂
