Im not a mascara snob at all, but live for one that can do its job without the need to splurge. What I look for is a wand that is substantial, has longevity throughout the day, provides length, and volume. Is that too much to ask for? Nope, not at all. There are so many affordable options that can be found in drugstores like Target, Ulta, and even Amazon these days that I was bound to find one that would ultimately be my favorite. So, I rounded them all up in my latest mascara haul! Hopefully, this mascara review will help in your next re-up.
Here are my stats:
Lash Type: Fairly average length, dark, and semi – straight
Fenty Beauty
First off, let me say I have purchased a few of the Fenty beauty brand products and LOVE. The mascara however wasn’t giving me all the feels…whomp. I didn’t hate it, but felt like I needed to apply more to achieve the pop I was looking for. The wand felt a bit small and didn’t grip and elongate my lash like I was hoping. One plus though, the packaging is super dope and girly. Im a sucker for that!

Too Faced Better Than Sex
Does it live up to its name…..? Uhhh, yeah? When applying I definitely saw a lift and volume factor which made my eyelashes to appear more fuller. It gave them good separation and is definitely easy to apply. I did see however a bit of clump action when applying two (or more) coats, which is not the look I wanted. I would recommend using one coat (if you can) and see what its giving before applying the next. Other than that, it is a good option and would def recommend.

Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies
This brand has been around for ions and obviously has a familiarity around it. Being one of the first mascara’s I used on a daily basis since I was in college, it has held its own ever since. It is one of the brands that If I am in a bind, I can always fall back on it and be satisfied. I tend to gravitate to the waterproof version of this mascara as its the version Im used to. The wand is sturdy and glides on easy and can generally apply two applications to see a pop, but nothing dramatic. If natural is what you are going for, this is it.

Essence Lash Princess
I was first introduced to this mascara on an influencers page and it wasn’t even about the product itself and what it could do, it was more about the price point and the fact that I can order it through Amazon Prime and have it at my house the next day. However, once I got my hands on this mascara, I HAVE NOT LOOKED BACK! It is theeee most used mascara Ive used to date, ordering multiples whenever I run out. With a price point at $4.99 and over 240,000 reviews, this one is top tier. It gives me that dramatic volume and provides so much length, it almost looks like I have on fake lashes. It doesn’t clump or have my lashes stick together and I can apply three coats without the “clumpy” look. Save your money on the designer options and use this!
